WChs annual events
The Washington County Historical Society organizes its year around four specific events which include the Battle of Fayetteville, Arkansas Statehood Day, the Ice Cream Social, and the Annual Meeting. The details and scheduling for each of these events are provided on this page.
The Battle of Fayetteville, held on the third Saturday in April. (The date of the battle April 18, 1863.)
Statehood Day Lecture, held on the Sunday prior to the day of Arkansas statehood, June 15, 1836.
The Ice Cream Social, held the third Saturday in August.
The Annual Membership Meeting, held in October.
OUt in the County
WCHS Out in the County event will be announced at a later date. No July gathering will be held.

The Annual Meeting of the Washington County Historical Society (WCHS) and Distinguished Citizen Award is given each year to one or more individuals who:
- Have made exceptional contributions to the life of Washington County, Arkansas, and its communities;
- Have made enduring contributions to preserving and celebrating the history of the County; OR
- Have provided outstanding and sustained service or support to the Historical Society.
Persons selected may meet one or more criteria, as determined by vote of the WCHS Board of Directors.
Nominations may be made by any member or any individual or group in Washington County.
Nominations must be in writing and must list the accomplishments of the nominee.
Nominations may be submitted at any time during the year for future consideration.
